Oranjestad
The capital combines shopping, heritage, the harbour and homes close to everyday services.

History
Oranjestad grew around Paardenbaai and developed into Aruba's administrative and commercial centre during the nineteenth century. Fort Zoutman, built in 1798, and the Willem III Tower recall the city's early defences and growth.
The centre brings several periods together: traditional cunucu influences, colourful façades, Dutch colonial elements and newer retail and harbour buildings.
Character and living
This is an urban residential setting with apartments, historic streets, shops, schools and public services. A free tram connects parts of downtown with the cruise terminal.
Prospective residents should compare traffic, parking and the balance between homes, shops and tourism from street to street.
